Fun Facts About the Adjustable Dog Harness

Fun Facts About the Adjustable Dog Harness

Attention, dog paw-rents! Prepare to be amazed by some intriguing fun facts about our Adjustable harnesses that you probably didn't know before.

Dog harnesses have become increasingly popular in recent years as a safer and more comfortable alternative to traditional collars. Not only do they distribute weight more evenly across a dog's chest and shoulders, but they also give owners more control over their dogs during walks and other outdoor activities. With a wide variety of styles and materials available, it's no wonder that more and more dog owners are making the switch to harnesses.

However, not much is known about the history behind the harnesses, and, if you’re as curious about inventions as I am, you might be wondering who invented them and where did the design come from.

In this blog post, we'll explore some fun facts about the Adjustable style dog harness, as we all need some interesting topics to talk about during dinner or drinks with friends.

Fun Fact Number 1: The Evolution of the Adjustable Harness

Originating in South Korea, this innovative design, initially known as the 'Korean style harness,' wasn't fully adjustable in its early days. While the chest piece could be adjusted to fit around our fur babies’s chest, the neck piece remained fixed. The style was similar to our Reversible harness, Pastel Showers, showcased below. It's pretty cool to see how dog harnesses have changed and improved over the years!

Fun Fact Number 2: The Chinese Reinvention

In 2016, a Chinese manufacturer revolutionised the Reversible and Korean style harnesses by introducing an adjustable neck feature. They sought a patent and registered the design in China, resulting in the Adjustable harness that has captured the hearts of dog owners worldwide. This upgraded design, featuring adjustable neck and chest pieces, ensures enhanced comfort and ample room for your fur babies to grow, particularly during their puppy stage.

Fun Fact Number 3: Unleashing the Power of the Front D-Ring

Prepare to discover the functional wonders of our Adjustable harnesses, which come equipped with a front D-ring. This ingenious feature serves as a valuable training aid to discourage dogs from pulling while on a leash. However, it's important to remember that training plays a vital role here, as the front D-ring alone cannot eliminate pulling behaviour permanently.

How does it work, you ask? By offering your fur baby an unfamiliar experience, it prompts them to think twice about their actions while walking and alters the rotational force of the harness. By combining these moments of non-pulling with high value treats and praise, you can gradually transform your dog's behaviour over time, resulting in a leash-walking superstar who no longer pulls incessantly.

Fun Fact Number 4: The Australian Connection

The inclusion of the front D-ring on harnesses is not entirely new. However, it wasn't until May 2020 that an Australian brand named Big and Little Dogs introduced it as part of the Adjustable style harness, making waves in the global market. They were, after all, the first brand ever to release a front D-ring on an Adjustable style harness!

Although they held exclusive rights to the front D-ring for a year, they chose not to patent this remarkable feature. Instead, they embraced their mission of positively impacting dogs' lives and encouraged other small businesses, like ours, to utilise the front D-ring on their harnesses.

Big and Little Dogs not only champions women founders but also demonstrates incredible support for other small businesses.

We hope these fun facts have left you pleasantly surprised and enlightened! Did you discover something new today? We are thrilled to have shared these exciting Fun Facts with you and invite you to explore our range of Adjustable harnesses for your fur babies!
